Gamesman gives support to Jamie Procter Foundation

The lunch, which was hosted by Toby Perkins MP, Labour’s Shadow Pub’s Minister and the Member of Parliament for Chesterfield, was the latest initiative undertaken by the Foundation which was established by Angie and Julian Bond in memory of Angie’s son Jamie, who passed away in 2010.

Expanding on Gamesman’s support of the Foundation, Mark Smith said: ‘We have a close connection with Julian through the UK gaming industry and admire greatly all of the fantastic work undertaken by the Foundation in memory of Jamie, his step-son. This is a charity with a soul and one that recognises that many children are born into extremely difficult family and social circumstances. Its aim is to change lives by giving deserving children new experiences and positive challenges and we are delighted to be able to support it.”

The Jamie Procter Foundation responded to the 2011 inner city riots and the need to keep young and vulnerable children away from the ‘Gang Culture’ by sponsoring 40 nine to eleven year olds from schools in the London Borough of Hackney, to spend a week at an outdoor adventure centre in Brixham where they were taken out of their comfort zones and exposed to completely new outdoor challenges including raft building, abseiling and canoeing. 

A subsequent dinner held at Twickenham, which raised over us$ 20,356, enabled the Jamie Procter Foundation to send a further 120 children to the centre delivering experiences which were described by Charlie Kyle, Deputy Head of one of the participating schools, as being ‘incredible and unlike anything that we are able to offer children who have aspirations, hopes and dreams’.
