UK: Gaming CEOs met minister

(UK).- Twelve CEOs from the UK gaming industry met with the government minister responsible for the industry this week in London. Maria Miller, who heads the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, spoke with the CEOs about measures needed to assist the business, among which was a return for the Triennial Review, when stakes and prizes levels in equipment is looked at with a view to increases.
The review had been dropped under the previous Labour government.
From the industry were the chief executives from Ladbrokes, William Hill, Rank, Genting, Scientific Games, Coral, Sportech, 888, Praesepe, Talarius and Paddy Power. The executives came away from the meeting with the feeling that the bid for us$ 155 payouts in Category C machines was a very real possibility and an announcement would be made to that effect next month.
Providing the Secretary of State with details of the current state of the industry, the CEOs were able to report that technology was now being tried on player facial recognition to assist in deterring under-age gambling and to provide impetus to self-exclusion moves.
