(Spain).- Online gaming regulation has been in force for one year in Spain. The legislation of this modality was not well considered by everyone, but has transformed this growing sector in Spain. This growth contrasts with traditional gaming, which has been more affected by current economic crisis.

After the regulation, more than a hundred online gaming companies and casinos have installed, previous acquisition of a license, in Spain. This is the case of Botemanía (owned by Gamesys group), in which users may enjoy all types of gaming options and versions of the most famous games: online bingo, online roulette, black jack, slots, etc.

However, not all the communities advance at the same rythmn. For example, the Autonomous Region of Castilla León which, despite being the first which legalized the game at a regional leve, has not found any company willing to apply for a license yet. Which is curious, because this community what the one that managed to do something beyond the requirements of the State Law in order to benefit the businessmen of the sector. However, government leaders are optimistic and believe it is a matter of time that any of the many companies that operate in this sector launch in the Castilla-León market.

Among the benefits of the regional law, which maintains the prerogatives of the state law,  are the reserve to citizens or foreign residents in the community, user protection, the guarantee when paying the jackpots, as well as diverse control measures such as the prohibition of loans or credits, the limitation to the access of underaged people and different conditions to avoid the participation of people with gambling problems. Features that, in the opinion of local leaders, are the most required by businessmen and players in the whole country.

Six of these licenses will be only offered to casinos, bingo halls and slot halls with venue in the Autonomous Community and which count with traditional venue.
