Danish regulator posts latest gambling statistics

(Denmark).- The Danish Gaming Authority has released its statistics for the first quarter of 2013 showing that remote gambling take-up has improved compared to Q1-2012, when the market liberalised. In the last two quarters, the GGR for sports betting has increased to a significantly higher level than the three first quarters of 2012, the Authority discloses.

The authority revealed that:

* At the end of April 2013 31 license holders hold 15 licenses for betting and 29 licenses for online casino activity.

* 11 online casino licensees and 7 betting licensees reported gross gaming revenues (GGR) below us$ 869,515 in 2012.

* 7 online casino licensees and 4 betting licensees reported gross gaming revenues above us$ 4.3 million in 2012.

* In the first quarter 2013, payout ratios were an average 96 percent of turnover at online casinos, and 84 percent in betting.

* Games with commission (ie poker) contributed 25 percent of total GGR.

The Authority broke down online GGR in Q1-2013 as follows:

Betting DKK us$ 64.3 million (Q1-2012: DKK us$ 49.5 million)
Online Casino us$ 7.2 million (Q1-2012: us$ 32.1 million)
Online poker us$ 9.5 million (Q1-2012: us$ 9.5 million)
Total: us$ 106 million (Q1-2012 total: us$ 81.7 million)

Total remote GGR in FY 2012 reached us$ 355.6 million.

Total gambling GGR across all types in 2012 totalled us$ 1.3 billion, and the Authority expects this to increase by end 2013 to us$ 1.35 billion.

GGR per average Danish player in 2012 was us$ 295, a figure that is expected to rise to us$ 304 by year-end.
