Rank Group completed purchase of Gala Casinos

(UK).- The Rank Group has completed the acquisition of Gala Casinos. Rank, based at Maidenhead in Berkshire, announced in an interim management statement that the deal was concluded yesterday, after all the conditions of its revised acquisition agreement were met.
The gambling giant also revealed that total revenues for the 44 weeks to 5 May 2013 were up four per cent, while like-for-like sales were up 3%.
Ian Burke, chairman and CEO of The Rank Group, said: "I am delighted that we have completed the acquisition of Gala Casinos. The addition of 19 casinos creates a market leading position for our Grosvenor Casinos brand, taking us into 11 new markets in the UK."
Last month, Rank finalised the sale of Blue Square Bet to rival Betfair Group for us$ 7.6 million. At the time, the company stated that it wanted to concentrate on developing the Mecca and Grosvenor brands in bricks-and-mortar venues and online.
