(Mexico).- Ricardo Mejía Berdeja, President of the Special Commission of the Chamber of Representatives that investigates the alleged irregularities in the granting of permissions to operate casinos, indicated that, in 15 days, they could have a complete diagnosis and confirm if there was corruption, traffic of influences or payment of political favors, as many presume.

Mejía Berdeja, who is also Vice Coordinator of Movimiento Ciudadano, commented that the only thing needed is to have physical access to the files: “It is important to verify, above all, some reports that the authority may have had, specially in those lawsuits, in which they proceeded through the automatic approval, because the authority ignored it and was suspiciously negligent, and there is where we find a very important line of investigation that we want to corroborate, and precisely for this we need the physical access to the files.”

Besides, he commented that they also seek to verify if all of them are permit holders, because it was said that there were 400 venues, but there are cities that have casinos and are not in the relationship.

At that moment, the Director of Games and Draws manifested her willingness to collaborate. “We want to corroborate that there is willingness and there is no freno; that we can perform this,” she added.

Mejía Berdeja pointed that they expect to be able to arrange a meeting with the  Ministry of the Interior, Miguel Ángel Osorio Chong, this week, in order to have Access to the files of the tenders granted, with the aim to confirm some things that start to appear, such as the fact that several licenses derived from legal resolutions and it is presumed that there was negligence.

Finally, he informed that they seek to verify the issue of the states and city councils, because they also granted operating licenses.
