(Belgium).- Games and gaming machines operators throughout the 22-country Eurozone are reported to be well on their way to adapting their machines’ software to take into account the new €5 bill.

The new bill is due to begin circulation on May 2, with a number of complex security features, including watermark, invisible ink, holograms and microprinting. For a period, yet to be determined, the old bills and the new ones will be legal tender simultaneously.

For most suppliers of software, however, this is a minor change. Innovative Technology, for example, has updated all of its euro datasets to include the new bill and they can be downloaded for free from the company’s website. Other suppliers are operating a similar system.
