Lottomatica selects Ingenico for POS network overhaul

Lottomatica has over 120,000 terminals in operation, through which a wide range of services can be offered to the public, at corresponding offices, bars and kiosks, among which are user recharges, payments, taxes and services. 

On completion of the technological renewal operations, by the end of 2013, 85.000 of the Lottomatica terminals will be updated with modern GPRS or Ethernet/TCP-IP communication modules and with contactless/NFC technology so that they can become acceptance points for new-generation cards and new mobile phones that are becoming more and more popular in Italy.

This five-year contract with Lottomatica is the result of years of close collaboration with Ingenico, for the supply of payment terminals and technical assistance services in the multi-vendor and specialised software field.

Thanks to this agreement, the Lottomatica offer is expanding since it will be able to provide new NFC technology-based Tap&Go services," said Giovanni Rando Mazzarino, B.Eng., Chief Technology Officer of Lottomatica. "During the course of 2013, 85,000 POS with NFC technology will be installed at as many points of sales, which may also be the main starting point from which to launch micro-payments with electronic currency".
