Macau’s casinos post gross revenues of us$ 10.66 billion in 1Q

(Macau).- Gross gaming and gambling revenues in Macau totalled us$ 10.660 billion in the first quarter of the year, representing a year-on-year rise of 14.8 %, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (GICB) said.

(Macau).- Gross gaming and gambling revenues in Macau totalled us$ 10.660 billion in the first quarter of the year, representing a year-on-year rise of 14.8 %, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (GICB) said.

Year on year rates of growth of accumulated gross revenues have been rising since the beginning of the year, rising from 7.3 % in January to 9.4 % in February and reaching 14.8 % overall in the first quarter.

In March alone, gamblers left us$ 3.917 billion in the casinos, which represented growth of 25.4 percent against the same month of 2012.

At the end of 2012 there were 35 casinos in Macau, 20 of which were owned by Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, six by Galaxy Casino, four by Venetian Macau, three by Melco Crown Jogos (Macau) and one each by Wynn Resorts and MGM Grand Paradise, which altogether had a total of 5,497 tables and 17,029 slot machines.
