(UK).- The UK online gaming industry is set to become a us$ 3.1 billion business in 2013, reports The Independent. Eight years after the UK government gave the online gambling industry the green light, the sector continues to boom and around nine million Brits are expected to gamble online in 2013.
However, some Members of Parliament have voiced concerns regarding the reported levels of gambling addiction across the UK.
The Gambling Commission’s 2010 national survey estimated there to be 450,000 gambling addicts in the UK, up from 200,000 in 2007, with an average debt of us$ 27,637 each. Another 900,000 gamblers were considered to be at “moderate risk”.
