(Macau).- The head of the Maritime Administration, Susana Wong Soi Man, is urging all gaming operators to install water-recycling equipment in their upcoming casino resorts in Cotai.

Ms Wong says that most of the existing gaming venues are not equipped with water-recycling systems, public broadcaster TDM reported.

Last year alone, the water consumption of all hotels and casinos in Macau reached around 17 million cubic metres, according to TDM.

The government is currently collecting opinions on a 10-year plan for the use of recycled water in Macau.
