(Denmark).- The Danish Gambling Authority has extended operators licenses for five years to total of 25 operators, five Danish and 20 foreign. A further nine operators have income-restricted licences, meaning that their gross gambling revenue must not exceed DKK 1 Million (around £109,000).

The Danish Gambling Authority confirmed that it requested that a number of unlicensed providers cease operations in 2012 and while most complied, it did block a number of illegal sites.

“The scope of illegal websites in Denmark is estimated to be rather limited,” said Tina R. Olsen, Head of Legal Division at the Danish Gambling Authority.

“The fact that 20 illegal websites have been blocked in 2012 illustrates that the Danish Gambling Authority performs its obligation to monitor the Danish gambling market in order to protect both consumers and the legal operators on the market”, she concluded.
