What is your evaluation of 2012?
The truth is that we are very satisfied. Until December, we had an increase of 18% in collection compared to the same period in 2011. The counterpoint is brought by the Spanish market, where recession is being noted. Fortunately, in Spain, we, the companies with global presence are noting that our international sales are compensating the decrease in domestic demand. By regions, the greatest performance is coming from Latin America, where our sales are growing – until December- a 24%.
Which were the main challenges you had to face in your main markets?
I think we have managed to adapt to the needs and tastes of every customer. Four years ago, we were very focused towards Fournier brand. In 2008, we took the strategic decision of including in our commercial offer the brands of our syster company United States Playing Card Co. It was a turning point because it opened us many doors. Nowadays, we have a portfolio of products that adapts perfectly to the specific needs of each customer. It we add a perfect quality and service, the result is satisfied customers that trust us year after year.
In your view, Which was the most outstanding novelty (positively or negatively)?
The closure of casinos in Ecuador and the increment of import barriers in Argentina are the less positive news. Among the positive news, I would remark the optimism brought by the confirmation of the investment in Las Vegas Sands in Spain.
Which was the most innovative product or service launched this year by your company?
This year we launched the second generation of our Baccarat Shoe, Bee-tek Electronic Shoe, which improves and adds new features to the first version. One of the most relevant improvements of this new shoe version are the B-codes that guarantee a precise reading of each card as well as the detection of cards that do not belong to the casino. It is also important to highlights the patented technology of PR-X Brake, which avoids the fear "overdraw" in baccarat tables. The feedback of this second generation of the shoe has been very good in those markets where baccarat is a game of reference.
Which is, in your view, the country with more growth potential facing 2013, and Why?
We like to think that in 2013 Mexico will pass from the prohibition to the regulation of card games in casinos. The Mexican market has a great potential.
Which are the plans of your company for 2013?
We want to continue working on the pillars that have led us up to this point. Good service and good products with a consistent quality. No unpleasant sourprises. We will keep on bringing innovation to our cards with the aim to keep having our status as the most secure casino card.
How do you see 2013 for the gaming industry in general? Will it be similar to the current year? Will there be a growth or a decrease in the activity?
We are optimistic because, first of all, we think that the growing markets will continue with their dynamics. The European market, which in recent years has been a bit depressed, should start showing signs of recovery any time, although at present there are not many novelties announcing a change of cycle. And finally we want to believe that import restrictions will be relaxed in Argentina and that in Mexico card games will be permitted again. As you can see, we are optimistic!
