(US).- State treasurer Steven Grossman is seeking a law change to permit the Massachusetts State Lottery to begin offering online gambling as soon as next summer. At a legislative revenue hearing in Boston on last week, he revealed plans, if approved, for the lottery to begin offering online games on a pilot basis before next July.

Lottery online gaming would be limited to adults who live in Massachusetts.

Massachusetts Lottery executive director Paul R Sternburg said the lottery could consider a wide range of online gambling products, including sales of a new form of instant ticket chance game and the traditional Powerball, Megamillions and Lucky For Life jackpot games.

Sternburg said it also could include keno, conventional card games and other games of chance.
