Maryland Live casino plans to begin operating round-the-clock December 27
Robert J. Norton, president and general manager of the casino, said in a news release that the casino continues to prepare for the arrival of 150 live table games early next year. Passage of the referrendum spurred Maryland Live to hire 1,200 additional employees; about 140 of them will be in place by December 27 to handle the expanded hours.
Though Maryland Live officials were able to rely on operating blueprints established at the many casinos throughout the country that stay open 24 hours a day, the facility's unique location next to Arundel Mills mall instead of within an established night-life district leaves a less distinct picture for who will use the casino overnight.
"It is a little bit different, and we're not sure who will be coming out," said Mario Maesano, Maryland Live's senior vice president for marketing. "We're anxious to see." Maryland Live has teamed with the Anne Arundel Community College to launch a free dealer school starting in January.
