(Greece).- Leading UK bookmaker William Hill has become the latest betting firm to withdraw from the Greek online gaming market. The move follows the recent ruling by the Greek Gaming Commission that gambling firms operating in Greece without a permit after December 5, 2012, would face fines and criminal sanctions.

A statement from the firm said: "William Hill believes that there are significant issues with the legality and enforceability of these proposals. However, until greater clarity is received, it has taken the decision to withdraw from this market.”

William Hill’s decision to leave the Greek market follows the announcement from Betfair that it too would be withdrawing from Greece for the same reasons.
