Mr Tam was speaking at the Legislative Assembly, which gave preliminary approval to the government’s budget for 2013, Business Daily reports.
Gaming tax revenue will continue to be the government’s bread and butter next year, Mr Tam admitted. The budgeted direct gaming tax revenue for 2013 reaches us$ 11.6 billion, 6.3 percent more than this year’s government budget.
But that actually represents a contraction if compared with the direct gaming tax revenue effectively collected by the government so far in 2012. However, the Macau government is historically very conservative in its yearly budgets.
