(China).- China unveiled its new leaders last week, with Vice President Xi Jinping succeeding President Hu Jintao as head of the ruling Communist Party. According to consulting firm Union Gaming, the leadership change is likely to “ultimately” have a positive impact on Macau.

Union Gaming analyst Grant Govertsen wrote in note that Mr Xi’s team – scheduled to take the helm of the country in March next year – is unlikely to implement new restrictions for mainland Chinese willing to visit Macau.

Instead, Govertsen says the new cabinet is likely to make moves to allow Chinese citizens to get improved access to Macau, Bloomberg reports.

Macau and Hong Kong affairs are currently part of Mr Xi’s portfolio as vice president of the People’s Republic of China.
