Macau: New gaming record in October

(Macau).- A new monthly casino gross gaming revenue record was set last month, figures released this week by the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau show. Macau casinos took in us$ 3.5 billion in October, up by 3.2 percent over the same period last year.

Macau’s previous record for monthly casino gross gaming revenue stood at us$ 3.30 billion and had been set in October last year.

Last month’s results were positively impacted by the National Day Golden Week holiday, in which local casinos raked in us$ 1 billion in gross gaming revenue, according to analysts.

So far this year, accumulated gross gaming revenue has reached us$ 30.8 billion, a 13.5 percent increase over the first 10 months of 2011, according to the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau.
