How do you evaluate your participation at G2E?
GLI had a tremendous global representation, including our labs in New Jersey, Colorado, Nevada, Canada, Argentina and The Netherlands, and our office in Puerto Rico. All of our representatives had a very busy show, meeting with suppliers from international companies and from regulators from dozens and dozens of the 455 global jurisdictions we serve. The conversations covered a wide range of topics of our expertise, including iGaming, lotteries, systems, land-based testing and more. GLI’s President/CEO James Maida spoke on the Thursday keynote panel and received extensive press coverage and we had many other speakers on panels, covering topics from tribal gaming to Latin America development to how new technologies may affect regulations in land-based and iGaming jurisdictions.
What can you tell us about the feedback that you received from operators and regulators?
We had tremendous feedback from suppliers, regulators and operators in both the iGaming and land-based arenas. Suppliers have told us they are getting very positive results with our products testing; regulators were asking great questions about the new technologies they were seeing; and operators were very engaged in the testing process. We were particularly pleased with the positive feedback we received about our major expansion in Nevada and the corresponding fast turnaround times and dramatic number of submissions that lab has received.
What are their main concerns now days?
Regulators and operators expressed concern that they want to ensure dollars are being spent properly in the testing process so that they can ensure compliance and accountability in their jurisdictions and operations. Accuracy and integrity are of utmost concern to regulators and operators, and they expressed to us they feel confident that they money they spend with testing at GLI serves those goals.
In your opinion, how will the industry evolve in the next couple of years?
The industry will continue to evolve technologically, in part because the technology in the gaming industry tends to run slightly behind the technology in other consumer entertainment areas. Rest assured, wherever the industry goes and however it evolves, GLI is absolutely ready.
What are GLI’s main plans for the short term?
We have recently expanded our Nevada lab and our global staffing levels. In fact, we have added more than 100 employees since the start of the year. This expansion trend will continue both in terms of physical space and the number of employees and the industry can expect to hear announcements regarding this in the near future.
