(UK / US).- In the wake of last week’s indictments of 25 individuals in the United States over allegations concerning an illegal online sportsbetting operation, the Alderney Gambling Control Commission regulator has announced that it has commenced a “special investigation” into Pinnacle Sports Europe Limited.

Three individuals connected with the PinnacleSports.com sportsbetting website were among those charged by Queens District Attorney Richard Brown over claims that they assisted in the operation of at least four websites that allowed gamblers to place wagers on horse racing in addition to professional and collegiate American football, basketball, hockey and baseball with bets processed through offshore computer servers.

The Alderney Gambling Control Commission stated that Pinnacle Sports Europe Limited has held a Category One eGambling licence since May allowing it to accept wagers from customers based solely in the United Kingdom.

“As there is an association between Pinnacle Sports and Pinnacle Sports Europe Limited, the Alderney Gambling Control Commission has today commenced a special investigation into Pinnacle Sports Europe Limited to ensure that the licensee is operating in accordance with approved operating procedures,” read a short statement from the regulator.
