(Macau).- The message from Macau officials regarding a casino at Studio City, being developed by Melco Entertainment did not conflict, the community’s CEO, Fernando Chui Sai On, said last week. More likely, it was a misunderstanding.

According to a review, the Studio City project did include a casino when it was first proposed. However, after being taken over by Melco, Sai said, the modified version did not include a casino. Now that the company has modified its application, Studio City once again is applying for a casino license that it is now eligible to receive, he said.

Before anything can happen, the Melco application must be approved by the public works authority in order for the company to secure gaming approval.
Also waiting for a casino approval are projects being developed by the company formerly operated by gaming kingpin Stanley Ho, and another by MGM Resorts International (MGM).
