Tabcorp has been rated the overall gambling industry leader in seven out of the past eight years. Twenty companies were assessed in the gambling sector this year. It also received a 100 % rating in the ‘Promoting Responsible Gambling’ category, a rating it has received for six successive years.
“Tabcorp’s global leadership ranking once again recognises our commitment to the responsible delivery of gambling products and being a sustainable operation. Responsible gambling is an important part of our operating philosophy and company values,” said Tabcorp CEO, David Attenborough.
“In 2011, the company cemented its future in Victoria after being awarded new licences to operate in that state. I trust that Tabcorp’s long-standing commitment to promoting a sustainable gambling industry was a factor in the company securing these licences. Tabcorp shares a very substantial part of the benefits of its operations with the community and other stakeholders in the racing, gaming and entertainment industry.”
Tabcorp is committed to evolving its sustainability and responsible gambling framework as part of a continuous improvement objective. Following the demerger of its Casinos operations in 2011, Tabcorp re-evaluated its responsible gambling programs and introduced a series of new practices.
As part of this, the company commissioned new research into how responsible gambling is managed across major operators worldwide. Tabcorp employees were also surveyed by an external independent firm to identify attitudes to responsible gambling.
Further, Tabcorp introduced a new Employee Gambling Policy and revised its Responsible Gambling Employee Resource Centre, which is used in the continuing education of employees about responsible gambling practices.
Tabcorp launched the new community engagement program, Tabcare, in 2012, which supports its employees to undertake activities that benefit the broader community.
Tabcorp has partnered with the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter and Conservation Volunteers Australia (NSW), Riding Develops Abilities Victoria and Fare Share (Victoria) and The Pyjama Foundation (Queensland), to help deliver Tabcare. This program complements the many existing community-based activities that Tabcorp supports.
Tabcorp’s businesses make substantial contributions to the community. In FY12 alone taxes on gambling paid by Tabcorp were us$ 1.12 billion.
Tabcorp is Australian largest wagering, Keno and racing media operator. It has more than 136,000 shareholders and has a market capitalisation within the top 100 Australian companies listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). Tabcorp is also a major Australian employer, with more than 3,000 employees.
