Recently, you have just been promoted to the role of Executive Vice President & General Manager for Australia and Asia Pacific. What are your new responsibilities?
For more than 2 years now I have been responsible for managing BMM’s Asia-Pacific business which covers our operations in Australia (Sydney & Melbourne) and Asia-Pacific (Singapore & Macau). The promotion formally acknowledges the role I have been doing, so my responsibilities should remain the same going forward.
Did BMM take part in AGE 2012? What can you tell us about the show?
Yes, BMM had a booth at the AGE in Sydney and we had a number of our staff from Australia attend. The show provides BMM with a great opportunity to build on our existing relationships with clients and regulators and allows us to meet a number of potential new customers as well. The AGE is a sensational event for the Australian gaming industry and it appeared to be well attend again this year. Overall, all the exhibitors did a tremendous job in presenting their booths with new and exciting products that were on display, and that gave the show a very positive vibe.
BMM was preparing to open a larger testing facility in Macau. What can you tell us about this? How advanced is this plan?
I’m pleased to advise that we are on schedule to have our new BMM Macau Testing Facility open and operational by the end of 2012. As a result of our increased work-load from our Asia based clients it was critical that we invested in a new and larger Testing Facility and I’m pleased to announce it will be located at MPI’s Gaming Training and Research Centre. The larger Testing facility will provide BMM with the required lab space to support the growth of our test and certification services in Asia, it will accommodate our new and existing clients, increased staffing levels and BMM’s increased service offerings in the region.
Will you recruit additional technical staff in APAC?
Absolutely, we have just hired more staff in Australia (Melbourne & Sydney) and we are in the middle of recruiting now for more test engineers and a business development person in Macau. I’m hoping we will have a number of new testing engineers starting with us soon in Macau and we will continue to support the growth in our Macau & Singapore Testing facilities by supplying experienced and skilled test engineers from our Australian and global Testing facilities.
What are your plans and objectives for the coming months?
My first aim is to progress the new Macau Test Facility to completion. I will also be attending the G2E Expo in Las Vegas in October where I will have the opportunity to catch up with other BMM executives from around the world and introduce our customers to the global services and reach provided by BMM. Over the last 12 months BMM has continued to build its world class leadership team with key appointments in Las Vegas, Europe & Canada and we plan to build upon our strong leadership in Australia and Asia as well. One of my key objectives is to ensure BMM is supporting the gambling industry's requirement for product recommendations/certifications. This means ensuring that we continue to have the resources, technical skills, expertise and the processes to fully support all of our clients, while delivering the high level of services that BMM has become renowned for across the world.
