(US).- Gtech Corporation announced that the company has achieved recertification for the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL) Standards Initiative (NSI) certification program in the area of Quality Assurance.

Certification in the program ensures that quality management processes have been audited and that Gtech has demonstrated conformance to the NSI Certification Program Conformance Requirements documents QA Development Process 1.0 and QA Requirements Definition for Vendors 1.0.

The NASPL-defined best practices are intended to provide both lotteries and vendors with simple, documented, and approved methods for ensuring quality in the software and requirements development processes. GTECH was first certified in the NSI certification program for Quality Assurance in 2009. Recertification is required every two years.

"Achieving recertification is a testament to GTECH's commitment to quality in our lottery products and services we provide to our customers everyday," said GTECH Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Matthew Whalen. "Vendors and lotteries committed to a common set of standards and best practices benefits the entire industry by promoting interoperability and improving quality and efficiencies associated with delivering, operating, and maintaining lottery systems."

"NASPL holds this certification in very high esteem, and are very appreciative that GTECH has been such a strong supporter of the NASPL Standards Initiative," said NASPL Executive Director David Gale. "They, along with other vendor organizations and the Association, have been a true supporter of this very important industry-wide effort."

The NSI is a collaborative development effort, with participation from the lotteries, gaming vendors, and retail associations in the development of standards, best practices, and certification and verification programs for the lottery industry. Currently, two lottery vendors are certified and four NASPL member lottery jurisdictions are verified under the QA Requirements Definition NSI practice.
