Macau casinos post gross revenue of us$ 25 billion

(Macau).- Gross gaming and gambling revenues in Macau totalled us$ 24.930 billion from January to August, representing a year-on-year rise of 15.2 %, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (GICB) said.

(Macau).- Gross gaming and gambling revenues in Macau totalled us$ 24.930 billion from January to August, representing a year-on-year rise of 15.2 %, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (GICB) said.

According to figures published by the GICB, year-on-year growth rates have been falling consistently since the beginning of the year, with January posting the biggest rise at 34.8 percent.

However, gross revenues posted in August alone, of us$ 3.267 billion, are the second-highest ever recorded, and were exceeded only by those posted in October of last year, of us$ 3.28 billion. As compared with August 2011, gross gaming and gambling revenues rose 5.5 percent.

At the end of the first quarter of 2012 there were 35 casinos in Macau run by six concession-holders, 20 of which were owned by Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, six by Galaxy Casino, four by Venetian Macau, three by Melco Crown Jogos (Macau), one by Wynn Resorts (Macau) and one by MGM Grand Paradise, with a total of 5,498 gaming tables and 17,035 slot machines.
