As part of the agreement, MDI will be providing upgrades and enhancements to the Lottery’s existing Player’s Fun Club website, including the addition of MDI’s Points for Prizes player loyalty rewards program. The Lottery also will receive Scientific Games’ patent-pending Easy Entry system, which allows players to enter non-winning instant tickets to accumulate points that can be redeemed for rewards in the Points for Prizes store.
“We are extremely pleased that the Kentucky Lottery will be joining the increasing roster of Properties Plus states,” said Steve Saferin, President, Properties Group and Chief Creative Officer for Scientific Games. “The Properties Plus lottery loyalty program, designed by lottery and loyalty professionals, has now established a track record of driving sales, increasing player engagement and attracting and retaining new and existing players and increasing their activity. MDI is focused on continuing to develop Properties Plus into the most dynamic and impactful loyalty program in the lottery industry.”
Kentucky is the seventh U.S. lottery to commit to or launch a version of Properties Plus. Other lotteries include Arkansas, Iowa, North Carolina, Missouri, Minnesota and Tennessee. The Kentucky Lottery’s Properties Plus program is anticipated to launch in late 2012.
“We have been intrigued by the concept of lottery loyalty programs for a number of years since we implemented our Player’s Club in 2002. The MDI Properties Plus program was presented and offered as an optional service by Scientific Games in their response to our 2009 instant ticket RFP,” said Arch Gleason, President and CEO of the Kentucky Lottery. “Having awarded our primary instant ticket production and marketing services contract to Scientific Games in November 2010, and having implemented services under the corresponding contract June 26, 2011, we were in a position to act on the option offered. Since that time, we have carefully followed the results in other states and looked at other similar industry programs and believe the Properties Plus program offered by MDI is state-of-the-art for our industry. We are delighted to make this exciting new program available to our players in Kentucky.”
The Points for Prizes store features a large and diverse assortment of merchandise, as well as MDI’s Lottery Music Store, offering millions of music downloads to program members. MDI plans to expand its digital offerings in the Points for Prizes store in the near future to include e-books, apps and movies.
As part of the Properties Plus agreement, the Kentucky Lottery also will have access to MDI’s extensive portfolio of licensed properties for use on instant tickets. Interactive games also will be available to the Lottery for use in conjunction with 2nd Chance promotions or “just for fun.”
