(Macau).- Sands China is proposing to build an Eiffel Tower replica in its parcel three site, in Cotai, Business Daily reported. According to the English-language newspaper, this will be the centrepiece of the project, to be located besides Four Seasons hotel.

The structure is likely to be 225-metres high and is expected to house an observation deck near the top, like the original.

Sands China chairman Sheldon Adelson said last month that the company is eyeing to start construction work on parcel three in November. Just a couple of days before, the company had announced that the government extended the deadline for the completion of the parcel three development until April 2016. The previous deadline was April 2013.

Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that U.S. authorities are probing deals made by Sands China, which is majority owned by U.S.-based Las Vegas Sands.

The U.S. Justice Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission, besides Sands itself, are investigating whether the company violated any anti-bribery regulations, the Journal reported, citing documents and sources.

The transactions include a us$ 50 million payment for real estate for the Adelson Center for U.S.-China Enterprise in Beijing, a business development operation that was never opened. Also under scrutiny is Sand’s sponsorship of a Chinese basketball team and the company’s partnership with Chu Kong Shipping Enterprises Company to operate Sands China’s CotaiJet ferry service.
