Playtech upbeat on 2012 after Q2 revenues double

(UK).- Playtech told investors that it is poised to maintain momentum for the rest of the year after seeing its revenues soar 99 % in the second quarter. In the June quarter, income surged 82 % to 88.1 million euros as revenues nearly doubled to 78.6 million euros from 39.6 million euros a year earlier.

Compared with the first quarter, revenues were up 5%. Casino revenues grew strongly, jumping 36 percent to 37.1 million euros, while revenues at the Bingo and Videobet businesses rose 21 percent to 4.4 million euros and 36 percent to 2.8 million euros and services revenues were up four percent at 26.8 million euros. However, the poker division saw its revenues fall four percent to 4.4 million euros during the quarter.

On the operational front, the group highlighted the launch of its licensees including Bet365, William Hill, Betfair, Casino Gran Madrid in the newly regulated Spanish market with further licensees looking to launch in September.

“First half performance for 2012 has been very encouraging and all products, with the exception of poker, have achieved strong year-on-year growth,” said CEO of Playtech Mor Weizer. “Although we anticipate a seasonal slowdown during the traditionally weaker summer months, I believe that the company is well positioned to maintain the momentum into the rest of the year.”
