(Singapore).- The International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR) announced that its 2012 Annual Conference will take place in Singapore next October 21-24. The event will focus on challenges faced by regulators as they seek to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of gambling oversight, and will explore emerging issues affecting gaming regulators, policymakers and industry executives in gambling markets around the world.

Expected to attend the annual gathering are IAGR members who represent gaming jurisdictions from throughout the world including those in North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, Central America, Caribbean and South America.  Industry representatives are also invited to attend this year’s conference.

Opening the conference will be Singapore’s Second Minister for Home Affairs and Trade & Industry, Mr. S. Iswaran.  Attendees will also hear from a range of experts on issues including Internet gambling, the influence of social media on gaming, money laundering and casino crimes, sports betting and integrity and responsible gambling.  In addition, panelists will discuss international gaming developments focusing, in particular, on the Asian gaming market. 2012 also marks the first time an IAGR conference will be held in Asia.

IAGR President Susan Hensel stated, “IAGR is looking forward to hosting its conference in a part of the world where gaming has been growing at an exponential rate.  We invite regulators and industry representatives to participate in what is sure to be an important discussion on the state of gaming and gaming regulation in an ever expanding global marketplace.”

IAGR will close out its conference with visits to Singapore’s two integrated resorts with casinos – the Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World Sentosa.

“We are pleased to showcase Singapore and its integrated resorts,” IAGR Trustee member from Singapore Lau Peet Meng said.  “We look forward to sharing with our colleagues the Singapore experience and to learn from their experiences as IAGR continues to facilitate the exchange of views and information among gaming regulators.”

The deadline for the $500 early bird registration fee is August 31, 2012.  After that IAGR members will pay $700.  The fee for non-members is $800.

The IAGR Conference will be immediately followed by the International Association of Gaming Advisors’ conference, which will be held in Singapore from October 23-25, 2012.
