What does the Nevada license for online gaming represent for your business?
It represents the opportunity to provide casinos another way of entertaining players. As the only American supplier to operate a poker network today in Europe, IGT is uniquely positioned to help casinos offer the most exciting and thrilling poker and other online gaming experiences to players.
What opportunities does Nevada offer to b2b companies in the online gaming arena?
Nevada’s online gaming initiatives provide companies like IGT another opportunity to service and bring value to our casino operator customers. IGT is a partner today with all licensed operators in Nevada, and IGT is a brand operators know they can trust to take them into new interactive technologies, of which online poker will be the first.
In your opinion, the Federal Goverment will follow Nevada any time soon? Will the U.S. drive a federal law?
IGT’s stated position is that we believe further legislation of online gaming will occur in the USA, although we do not predict whether that will be at an Intrastate or Federal level. As a B2B supplier it is crucial that we remain flexible to all posible scenarios in which we can best-serve our land-based operators.
What plans do you have for Nevada? What products and services do you have for this market segment?
First, we will continue to provide Nevada casinos and other operators with the best games, systems and services in the market. We will do this for both land-based and online offerings. Although the initial online opportunity offered by Nevada is poker, we can see a future where slots, bingo and other games can be offered online. We also see a future where the gaming experience within a casino can be extended online so that a player maintains their place in a game and retains bonus points. Our vision also extends to social gaming where we will enable our operator customers to tap into the 800+ million people on Facebook. Our plan is to be a full online gaming solutions provider for our operator customers.
What will be your next steps?
Now the licence has been obtained, independent testing labs in Nevada want to inspect game devices, equipment, systems etc. before the Gaming Control Board gives approval for companies to actually go live online in a few months’ time. We fully expect to go through the usual channels to get the technology for our platform approved by the state, as part of routine testing.
