(US).- Advantech-Innocore had been designing special purpose embedded systems for the casino gaming industry for over 13 years. In his blog, the company’s Product Director Craig Stapleton commented about the characteristics of the firm and the features of the new AMD R-Series DPX-S430.

Craig Stapleton said that, indeed in some segments of the market DPX series motherboards have become the de-facto standard used among many slot machine OEMS. He added: “Advantech-Innocore team takes care of the chipset selections for each new product and looking for the right combination of platform features with special attention to those that are most important to the customers in the casino hardware industry.  Key among those features are graphics performance and multi-display support.  Longevity, cost and technical support are also very important considerations.”

He then pointed that, when Advantech-Innocore team heard about the upcoming R-series from AMD, was initially skeptical of the claims of “discrete level graphics performance” from the integrated graphics in an embedded chipset.

“Anyway the design team began the design and throughout the process provided great support from the AMD team - a challenge made all the harder since Advantech-Innocore’s design teams are located in USA, UK and Taiwan. Sure enough the benchmarks realized on the DPX-S430 with the AMD R-Series APUs are as good as or better than the team was expecting.  The initial customer feedback has also been very encouraging,” he assured.

Stapleton also said that, with unique AMD features like AMD EyeFinity technology for up to 4 independent monitors, the firm’s team feel that the DPX-S430 “will allow many of their customers to bring to market eye popping new game content without the inconvenience of adding discrete graphics cards which add cost and typically have short lifecycle and are not industrial grade.”

With regard to the characteristics of the product, he pointed: “For the most demanding applications, the DPX-S430 also allows the flexibility to add a graphics card via a full PCIe x 16 v2.1 graphics card slot and the platform supports AMD Dual Display acceleration whereby the chipset graphics engine works in co-ordination with discrete AMD Radeon GPUs such as E6760/E6460.”

“Overall all the company was excited to offer the DPX-S430 with AMD R-Series technology to our gaming industry customers,” the said, and then added: “The DPX-S430 offers a marvelous package of performance at a price point suitable for our industry and with the backing of the AMD Embedded roadmap for the longevity our customers also need.”

Customers who would like to upgrade from their existing DPX-S series platforms can do so with little integration work due to the consistent mechanical and software footprint and the support of the company’s global support network.
