Merkur chooses Balearic Islands as a base for business expansion

(Spain).- Balearic Islands will prove its business and employment chances in the gaming sector thanks to the Alliance between Spanish firm Dosniha and German Merkur Gaming. And to that it contributes the interest shown by Merkur Gaming of consolidating in Mallorca in an expansion phase of the company belonging to Gauselmann Group.

To the communication opportunities existing in Germany, it adds the excellent professional qualification of the workers in the gaming sector of this community, boosted by the studies offered by the Higher Polytechnic School and the University of Economy and Business.

Both the communications and the high professional level of employment from the University of the Balearic Islands are very important elements that made multinational Merkur Gaming, which by mid March signed a commercial merger with Dosniha, be interested in expanding and developing its activities in the islands.

In Mallorca, for example, there is an excellent team of engineers highly qualified, and nowadats there are thousands of university professionals formed in different aspects of the technologic industry. They are engineers in telecommunications, computing, software development, mathematics, electronics and economy, That’s wht the Balearic Islands have become the right place for the constitution of the company’s headquartes of commercial activities and a Research and Development Center of all the gaming activities in Spain.

La Universitat de les Illes Balears, through its Higher Polytechnic School, has been educating, for more than 20 years, very good specialists in information technologies with titles as mathematis, computing engineers, telematics and electronics.

Those institutions, as well as the University of Economy and Business, make this autonomous community the right place to establish Merkur Gaming venue, both for its business activities and its I+D+i activities regarding the Spanish gaming sector.

Merkur Gaming is a venue of the German group Gauselmann, one of the main gaming industries worldwide, and obtained income for more than 1,500 million euros last quarter. Its commercial merger with Dosniha, headed by Carlos Chacón, has represented for the Spanish firm with offices in Palma de Mallorca, a step forward as reference in the subsector of venues and with a great bingo hall projections, and specially in casinos.
