Camelot posts record results

Camelot declared that it had achieved its target of raising us$ 105 million for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games via the sale of specially-designated lottery games and revealed ‘record returns’ to its National Lottery Good Causes fund for the year of us$ 252.7 million alongside prize payouts to players exceeding us$ 463 million.

“With charities and foundations throughout the UK anxious about future funding, Camelot delivered a record us$ 256.2 million to the Good Causes in 2011/12, an increase of £160 million on 2010/11,” read a statement from Camelot.

“Lottery funding has now enabled more than 380,000 individual grants to be made throughout the UK, an average of 124 awards for every postcode district. “Returns to players in the form of prize money, reached an all-time high of us$ 463.2 million. A record 288 National Lottery millionaires were created during the year, the equivalent of one every 30 hours, bringing the total created to date to more than 2,800. Among the year’s very lucky ticket-holders were Colin and Chris Weir, who banked a us$ 22.6 million EuroMillions jackpot last July to become the UK’s and Europe’s biggest-ever lottery winners.”

Camelot stated that its most recent financial figures ‘once again underline the ongoing effectiveness’ of its strategy for long-term responsible growth that has seen total National Lottery sales improve by 35 percent since the start of its second licence in 2002 while player numbers have risen by in excess of 12% over the previous five years.

“I’m delighted to announce that we’ve hit our us$ 105.2 million funding target for London 2012 ahead of schedule,” said Andy Duncan, Managing Director for Camelot UK Lotteries Limited. “It’s part of an overall National Lottery contribution of up to us$ 308.8 million towards the Games, making it the biggest-ever lottery-funded project to date and one that will leave a lasting sporting legacy for the entire UK.

Duncan added: “Our business is all about raising as much money as possible for the Good Causes and creating millions of winners and this year’s record-breaking figures show we’ve done exactly that. The National Lottery is truly life-changing for the hundreds of thousands of beneficiaries of lottery funding and for all of the big winners we create each and every week. But, this success hasn’t happened overnight. It’s the result of a great team effort and a proven strategy for long-term responsible growth that has seen sales and player numbers grow steadily over the last ten years.”
