(UK).- Minister for Tourism and Heritage, John Penrose MP, will be the guest of honour at the Parliamentary and media launch of the first BISL Oliver Wyman Leisure Industry Report which will take place on June 12th at Rileys Sports Bar, Victoria, London.

The Leisure Industry Report, which has been researched and produced by leading international management consultancy Oliver Wyman, represents the most detailed socio, political and economic analysis undertaken of the domestic leisure industry and the contributions it makes to UK.

Simon Johnson, CEO of Business In Sport & Leisure said: “My aim is to change the narrative surrounding the broadly based leisure industry, by demonstrating that it is a major sector of the economy which makes a significant, yet under-recognised contribution in terms of jobs, growth, export and inward investment. The Leisure Industry will also be authoritatively defined for the first time.  The BISL Oliver Wyman Leisure Industry Report will provide a detailed empirical backdrop to support our arguments for government to adopt a more progressive approach to the sector.  It will highlight the hugely positive contributions made by private sector businesses to the economy and the well-being of the nation and argue the case for the appointment of a Cabinet Minister who will champion the industry represented by BISL.

“As the only body speaking on strategic issues for sport and leisure it is our role to ensure the industry remains firmly on the radar of government and is taken as seriously as, for example, manufacturing, transport, construction and engineering in terms of jobs, growth and broader economic contributions. I am delighted the launch is taking place at Rileys, a brand which delivers value for money leisure and entertainment opportunities to many thousands of customers the length and breadth of the country,” he added.

The BISL Oliver Wyman Leisure Industry Report will be launched on 12th June at Rileys Sports Bar Victoria, 16 Semley Place, London, SW1W 9QJ, 12.30 – 14.00hrs.
