(Mexico).- Armando Corona Rivera, Representative of PRI, reported that in Mexico City and in Mexico Valley there are 70,000 slots operating illegally. He said that the slots regulation is urgently needed due to their growth and to the substantial winnings obtained by their owners.

The legislator indicated that it is calculated that the winnings oscilate from us$ 4,760 up to us$ 9,521 a month, “depending on the influx obtained by the machines”.

Corona Rivera mentioned that there is a confusion between the machines operating in casinos and in betting centers, which can be called random games and skill games. The first ones are ruled, but the second ones not.

The representative boosts an amendment to article 2 of the Federal Games of Chance Law, in order to include slots as skill games. The aim is to regulate a commercial activity which generates incomes to private individuals and, at the same time, obtain a contribution as an operating tax.
