No more offshore casinos to be allowed in Goa

(India).- Goa government ruled out possibility of having more offshore casinos in the state. "State government will not allow more than six offshore casinos which are already existing," Chief Minister of the state of Goa, Manohar Parrikar, told reporters.
Manohar Parrikar-led government, which took over the reign of the state in March this year, was accused of promoting casino culture when it reduced the entry fee from us$ 36.7 to us$ 9.19 per head. Parrikar had vowed to get casinos out of Mandovi river.
While reducing the entry fee, state government had instead increased the annual license fee to us$ 1,312,220 from us$ 1,166,313. Parrikar said he had issued suspension notice to one of the casinos. Goa has six offshore casino vessels as a part of state's casino policy.
