Since the program launched in Iowa last May, the Lottery has enjoyed substantial growth in both instant game sales and membership. Players are taking advantage of the rewards offered through the program, redeeming upwards of three million points each week in the Points for Prizes online store. The store opened in July, and offers a wide range of products, from jewelry and clothing to sporting goods and electronics. Also offered are digital music downloads and downloadable discount rewards that members can print and redeem for savings at their local restaurants and retail stores.
The Properties Plus program has expanded the Iowa Lottery’s players club and its online presence with Points for Prizes, as well as other program components including 2nd Chance Promotional Games, play-for-fun games, Play It Again drawings for cash prizes, and the Points for Prizes rewards program and online store. These new players club features are helping the Lottery build its online relationship with members. As of March 2012, more than 70 percent of Iowa’s registered VIP Club members had opted in to receive emails from the Lottery.
“Looking at our record-breaking results during the past year, we certainly think that the Properties Plus program has helped us move in a very positive direction,” said Terry Rich, CEO of the Iowa Lottery. “Since it was founded in 1985, the Iowa Lottery has raised more than us$ 1.3 billion for important state projects and programs. We’ve seen considerable interest from our players in the products that Properties Plus provides, and we believe it will be a valuable tool for us in growing our player base, strengthening player loyalty, and in turn generating even more revenue for those who live in our state.”
Steve Saferin, President, Properties Group and Chief Creative Officer for Scientific Games, said, “The Iowa Lottery has done an excellent job raising proceeds that benefit the people of Iowa. We at MDI are gratified to be providing them with our Properties Plus program to help them sell more instant games, increase their player membership, enhance their player loyalty and continue to flourish.”
In addition to the games, rewards, and added opportunities to win that Properties Plus provides to players, the program offers lotteries access to MDI’s complete portfolio of licensed games, as well as vital data gathering and analysis services. Other lotteries utilizing the Properties Plus program include the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery, the Tennessee Education Lottery and the Missouri Lottery.
