Macau's gaming sector employment up 12 % in Q4 2011

(Macau).- The number of paid employees in Macau's gaming sector reached 50,198 at the end of 2011, an increase of 12 percent from a year earlier, according to a survey released last week by Macao's Statistics and Census Service, Xinhua News Agency reported.

The survey showed that the average earnings (excluding bonuses and allowances) for full-time employees of the gaming sector rose by 6.5 percent year-on-year to us$ 2,091) in December 2011, with dealers earning us$ 1,804 on average.

At the end of the fourth quarter of 2011, the number of vacancies in the gaming sector reached 2,274 (1,504 for dealers), while vacancies in retail trade went up by 43 percent to 2,913, the news agency reported.
