Atlantic City casinos working to attract new customers

Now, the push is on to bring the casino industry back to where it once was in the eighties and nineties. Several changes are being made to older casinos in the city, while new casino resorts prepare to pump a new excitement into the town. Whether it is new or old, the one thing that keeps executives hopeful is that the changes or renovations bring people back to the Boardwalk.

"It has been a shame what has happened in Atlantic City over the past few years," said Frank Libido, who has lived in Atlantic City for over thirty years. "You used to not be able to walk on the Boardwalk, and now, we are lucky if we pack the place on holiday weekends. I really hope this new casino brings people back. I miss the excitement."

The new casino Libido was referring to is Revel. The multi-million dollar project is expected to give a spark to Atlantic City. Revel will open on April 2nd, and customers have already crashed the reservation system this week by overloading the system with calls on the first day patrons were permitted to book their stays.

Over at the Borgata, the casino resort unveiled this week their new room designs. The remodeling of the rooms corresponds with Revel's opening of their luxury resort. The Borgata renovations cost the casino over us$ 50 million, with the hope of bringing customers back to one of the most famed establishments on the Boardwalk.

While renovations and new openings are key to future success for Atlantic City, so is labor peace. On Monday, members of the largest union in AC, Local 54 reached a deal with the Atlantic Club that will give many employees moderate raises at the facility. The union has been busy at work over the past year, making deals with eight of the eleven casinos in Atlantic City.
