Macau gaming revenue up 20 % in February

(Macau).- Although February is the shortest month of the year, and despite the fact that Chinese New Year occurred in January, February could bring in us$ 22.88 billion in gaming revenues, estimates say. If that is the case, this will be the 12th consecutive month revenues have been above us$ 2.45 billion.

Gaming revenue for this month could represent an increase of around 19 percent compared with the same period last year. Gaming revenue for the first 26 days of February in Macau were up about 20 percent from a year ago, Harry Curtis, an analyst at Nomura Securities International, said in a client note.

According to Jornal Tribuna de Macau, Sociedade de Jogos de Macau Holdings continues to lead the market share with around 28.5 percent, followed by Sands China with just under 19 percent and Galaxy Entertainment Group with 17 percent.

Melco Crown Entertainment (13.5 percent), Wynn Macau (slightly above 12.5 percent) and MGM China Holdings (9.5 percent) continue to have the same share of the market as they did last month.
