(US).- Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa announced details of a us$ 1 million renovation of the poker room, including the debut of its exclusive high-limit poker lounge “The Boardroom”. Online registration for the Borgata Winter Poker Open is available now through January 13.

Since opening in 2006, it has the great distinction of being the busiest, largest and most diverse poker room on the East Coast, said Stan Strickland, Director of Poker Operations for Borgata. This renovation reinforces Borgata’s commitment to its poker program and the players who comprise it.

The remodel, which began earlier this year, spotlights Borgata’s dedication to staying fresh, as evident in the addition of 23 new flat-screen televisions along with brand new contemporary carpeting throughout the entire 21,500 square foot poker room.

Borgata’s high-stakes players will be offered an unrivaled poker experience with the opening of its new high-limit, two-table lounge “The Boardroom” a place where high-stakes resolutions are constantly in action, where every movement is examined and every decision is studied in an effort to gain the upper hand.

Offering an extensive variety of games at a minimum buy-in of us$ 10,000; The Boardroom combines dark woods with plush seating, 45 personalized poker lockers, and four 60-inch LED flat-screen TVs, all of which evoke a feeling of prestige in an exclusive surrounding for players to hone their craft under the most thrilling of circumstances.

The newly renovated room opens just in time for the seventh annual Borgata Winter Poker Open tournament series, beginning on January 18 and concluding with the Winter Poker Open Championship, January 29 - February 3. The Championship event will feature a guaranteed us$ 2 million prize pool with a total buy-in of us$ 3,500.

Last year’s Borgata Winter Poker Open series attracted over 13,000 participants and paid out over us$ 7 million in prize money.  New Jersey resident Vadim Shlez was crowned champion, joining Jeffrey Madsen (2010), Steven Weinstein (2009), Gavin Griffin (2008), John Hennigan (2007) and Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi (2006) on the distinguished list of Borgata Winter Open Champions.

Online registration for the Borgata Winter Poker Open is available now through January 13.
