(US).- The state of Ohio has lagged far behind other states when it comes to casino gambling, but that is set to change in 2012. The first of Ohio's four approved casinos will be open in March, and the Cleveland facility is expected to receive visitors from all across the state.

The Horseshoe Casino Cleveland is set to open its doors in March, as a temporary gaming facility. The casino will be four floors of excitement for those who have waited all their life to play poker, slots, and other table games within the states' borders.

Ohio residents will now have their own casino. After years of turning away casino proposals at the polls, voters finally cracked after the 2008 economic recession, authorizing four casino resorts. Rock Gaming, owned by Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert, has the rights to the Cleveland and Cincinnati casinos, while Penn National Gaming will develop the Columbus and Toledo gaming facilities.

Horseshoe Casino Cleveland will have over 2,000 slot machines, a poker room equipped with 30 tables, and several dozens table games. The casino will be at the center of downtown Cleveland, and the operators are expecting that the lure of the city will draw people to the casino. Cleveland is hope to the popular tourist attraction, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Opponents have tried their best to stall the casino development in Ohio. The anti-casino groups argue that the casinos will bring increased crime and gambling addiction. These arguments have been disputed, and proven to be outdated, in other states.

Lawmakers expect that the Ohio casinos will bring hundreds of millions of dollars to the state budget. In addition, thousands of jobs will be created. Temporary construction jobs have already been filled over the past year, with many of the permanent positions within the casinos being filled in recent months.
