What were the main accomplishments of the firm in 2011?
2011 was an extremely busy year for GLI. GLI became the first test lab licensed in Bolivia, signed an exclusive agreement with the Puerto Rico Tourism Company, opened an office in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and formed a new dedicated global lottery consulting group. GLI also released the latest in our extensive line of exclusive tools, GLI Mobile, which was named one of the year’s most innovative technologies.
GLI Asia expanded its testing services to include lotteries; GLI Australia and GLI Europe became recognized testing labs of the Casino Regulatory Authority of Singapore; and GLI Europe and GLI Austria become the first labs of their kind authorized to test for Poland.
GLI Europe was accredited by Spanish Gaming Authorities as an independent testing laboratory for both B2B iGaming platform suppliers and B2C online gaming operators, and an independent auditor of Information Systems Security (ISS).
Last, GLI released several global testing standards, including GLI-11 v.2; GLI-19, the world’s first global interactive gaming standard; and GLI-23, a new technical standard guiding Video Lottery Terminals.
As we wrap up 2011, we are finalizing our plans for ICE and for our US Roundtable, which takes place in Las Vegas in March and our European Roundtable, which takes place in Budapest in May.
How was the general gaming industry in a year with an economic crisis that affected many markets?
GLI was extremely fortunate in 2011, and we were able to expand our operations, laying the groundwork for what we hope will be a busy 2012 for the industry.
What are the company's plans for 2012? What novelties are you preparing?
GLI will be making several announcements in 2012 about our growth in iGaming, in Europe, in Australasia, and in North America. We will be adding staff and opening offices to accommodate demand, and we expect to further expand our growing list of exclusive tools. We are also very excited about our three Roundtables – in North America, in Europe and in Latin America – that continue to draw record crowds year after year.
How will be the 2012 for the gaming industry in general? Will it be similar to 2011? Do you think that we will see a growth in the activity?
As an independent test lab, we don’t speak for the industry; however, we can forecast that our company anticipates growth in each area of our testing and consulting services, particularly in iGaming as that business segment continues to gain traction in jurisdictions globally.
