Macau casinos will pay us$ 10.6 billion in gambling taxes next year
The government projection is the result of an estimate for gaming revenues of us$ 2.44 billion per month or us$ 29.3 billion for the whole year, and that tax is charged at 35 % on gross revenues.
Speaking to the members of the Legislative Assembly, Macau’s parliament, the secretary said that the projection for tax revenues in 2012 had increased simply because revenue from direct tax on gaming and gambling was expected to total us$ 10.3 billion.
In 2010 the government collected us$ 7.95 billion in direct taxes on gaming and gambling, or 81.6 % of total tax revenues for the year and in the first 10 months of 2011 it ahs already collected us$ 9.33 billion in direct taxes on gaming and gambling, which is a year-on-year increase of 46.6 %.
Between January and October of this year taxes on gambling accounted for 84 % of total tax revenues. Cited by The Macau Post Daily, Francis Tam Pak Yuen also said that revenues from direct taxes on gambling were this year expected to total us$ 11.5 billion.
