(US).- Gtech Corporation announced that its President and CEO Jaymin B. Patel has been inducted into the Lottery Industry Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2011. Patel was honored at the induction ceremony, which took place during the North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries (NASPL) annual conference on, October 25, in Indianapolis, Indiana.

"The lottery industry continues to grow and change, and Jaymin has been at the forefront of those changes," said Gtech Chairman Donald R. Sweitzer. "I have witnessed the evolution of a leader, and I know from personal experience that his determination, skills, and intellect have helped shape not only our Company, but this industry."

The Lottery Industry Hall of Fame was founded by the Public Gaming Research Institute in 2005 as a means of honoring those who have done the most to make the lottery industry the great success that it is today. Membership is reserved for lottery professionals who have promoted excellence and integrity throughout their careers. Each year, former inductees nominate and vote on the final recipients.

Patel's entrance into the lottery industry began 18 years ago. As a young accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers in London, Patel was assigned to work with a consortium of five clients, including GTECH, on the Camelot Project that successfully bid to operate the new National Lottery in the United Kingdom. Patel joined Gtech's UK offices immediately following the Camelot win in 1994.

Patel expanded his role at Gtech through the 1990s by holding several positions in Gtech's European and African business, leading some of the biggest transformations in both the lottery industry and at Gtech. From January 2000 to April 2007, Patel served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Gtech Corporation, and from August 2006 to April 2007, he also served as Chief Financial Officer of Lottomatica Group.

In May 2007, he was named President and Chief Operating Officer of Gtech, and was appointed a member of the Lottomatica Board of Directors in November 2007. In January 2008, he became President and CEO of Gtech Corporation.

Since taking the helm as President and CEO, he has implemented a new vision for how GTECH, and the industry, approach the customer. His vision of Customer First has set a new precedent within the industry and, consequently, the program has supported the Company's lottery customers throughout the world to grow in a difficult economic climate. Patel defines Customer First as an actionable strategy intended to provide a clear sense of focus and purpose, aimed at increasing alignment between Gtech and its customers' goals and thought processes.

"Jaymin has a clear and consistent vision for the Company and also for its customers," continued Mr. Sweitzer. "He has dedicated both resources and time to ensure the industry moves forward and has had the courage to push for change. Clarity of purpose and firm resolve to move the industry forward to generate more revenue for good causes has always been the driver of his vision."

Patel also served as one of the architects behind Northstar Lottery Group in Illinois. The successful bid by Northstar to operate the Illinois Lottery marked the first private lottery manager contract in the United States. He holds an honors degree in accountancy from Birmingham Polytechnic in 1989 and later became a Chartered Accountant in 1992. He lives in Rhode Island with his wife, Kinnari, and their three children.
