(Spain).- Spanish gaming firm Codere has signed a four-year agreement with Grupo Matencio that will see it expand its sportsbetting operation throughout the autonomous region of Valencia.

With a population of just over five million people, Valencia is Spanish fourth most populous autonomous region and Codere’s agreement will see it establish and operate betting terminals in bars and gaming establishments operated by Matencio throughout the community.

“The joint work of both companies with a long history in the private gaming sector will drive this new sportsbetting market in Valencia in coming years,” said Jaime Estalella, European Operations Director for Codere.

Valencia legalised sportsbetting in June and Codere revealed that its agreement with Matencio complies with regulations previously laid out by the local Generalitat Valenciana that will see approximately 200 terminals installed in existing venues alongside the establishment of special sportsbetting zones in 30 arcades with a maximum of 60 terminals.

“We expect very good results with this new agreement, which brings together experience in private gaming and sportsbetting in Spain with the positioning and trajectory in the gaming industry in the Valencian community,” read a statement attributed to Antonio Matencio and Tomas Matencio, Co-Chief Executive Officers for Matencio.
