VIP baccarat grew faster than the overall casino industry in Macau: the city’s casino gross gaming revenue reached us$ 8.63 billion in the third quarter of 2011, a year-on-year growth of 48.2 percent.
Mass-market baccarat revenue rose 42.5 percent year-on-year, to us$ 1.55 billion. Revenue from slot machines rose 26.7 percent to us$ 347.9 million in the same period.
Macau’s 15,900 slots accounted for a share of 4 percent of the total casino gross gaming revenue in the period from July to September.
At the end of the period, Macau had a total of 5,379 gaming tables, only 121 tables short of the government’s 5,500 table-cap that will expire in 2013.
