Macau casinos rake in us$ 1.35 billion during Golden Week

(Macau).- Macau casinos recorded us$ 1.35 billion in gross gaming revenue during the National Day Golden Week (October 1-9), Portuguese news agency Lusa and Jornal Tribuna de Macau reported, quoting industry sources. That represents an increase of almost 40 % year-on-year, according to Jornal Tribuna de Macau.

In terms of market share, SJM Holdings led with a slice of 26 %, followed by Galaxy Entertainment Group, with 24 %. Sands China was third in the ranking, with 15 % of the total casino gross gaming revenue for the first nine days of October, followed by Melco Crown Entertainment (14 %) and Wynn Macau (13 %). MGM China Holdings closed the list, with an 8-percent share.

Nomura Securities expects casino gross gaming revenue in Macau to surge 40 percent year-on-year in October, reaching a new monthly record, at us$ 3.1 billion. The current record was established in August at us$ 3 billion.
