Mexico: Segob proposes the creation of a new Federal Law of Games and Draws

(Mexico).- Secretary of Segob, José Francisco Blake Mora, remarked the need to generate a new federal games and draws law, considering that the current law is obsolete, because it dates from the 40’s.

(Mexico).- Secretary of Segob, José Francisco Blake Mora, remarked the need to generate a new federal games and draws law, considering that the current law is obsolete, because it dates from the 40’s.

“We have to search for a new norm according to the current situation of this gaming industry. This rules will also have to enable citizens the chance to express their view about the operation of casinos in some region, zone or council”, indicated Blake Mora. 

When the extraordinary session of the PAN National Council concluded, the secretary insisted that a new legislation has to be created in order to include the power of the citizens tos ay if they agree with the casino operation in their region or council. He revealed that SEGOB is currently working on it.

Blake Mora said that the revision of the 27 operating licenses for casinos will be performed “with the aim to correct or update files, and, in case of any irregularity, there will be sanctions”. In the case of betting houses known as illegal –slots- are being traced, and, as they are not regulated, they will have to close.
